Room 12 Happenings

Hello Everyone,

We have begun to study electricity. We've made atoms, caused the two halves of a piece of plastic wrap "fly" apart (repel), and created a circuit with a wire, battery, and bulb. Learning about electricity is fun!

We're reading realistic fiction books. When I finished reading Maniac Magee aloud, I made butterscotch krimpets. I will post the recipe in another part of this blog.

We're learning about prefixes, too. Do you know what "anti-" means? You'll find it in words like anitfreeze and antibiotic. Knowing what prefixes mean helps you figure out the meaning of unfamiliar words.

In math we made array posters which show all the factors of numbers. This helped us learn about factors, products, square numbers and prime numbers. We're working on mastering our multiplication facts.
